Cheltenham Racecourse is situated just north of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, in the suburban village of Prestbury, and is in close proximity to the M5. It is easily accessible by a variety of means of transport, though Racecourse management has devised a Travel Plan to minimise the use of cars for Cheltenham Racecourse travel.

The two preferred means of getting to and from Cheltenham Racecourse are train and bus. If you choose to come in by train, you can then catch one of many regular bus links which run from the Cheltenham Spa Station to the racecourse two hours before every major racing event and again afterwards.

Bus Travel to Cheltenham Racecourse
There are two main bus services on offer for Cheltenham Racecourse travel:

Car Travel Cheltenham Racecourse
If you would prefer to travel by car to Cheltenham Racecourse, it is advised that you follow the routes recommended by the AA – keep a look out for AA signage on race day, which will also advise you as to the location of the closest car parks, which can be used free of charge except during the Cheltenham Festival.

If you wish, you may make use of the AA route planner which will provide you with exact and detailed directions from wherever you may be coming.

Other Cheltenham Racecourse Travel Options
If you’re up for something different, why not hop aboard the race day steam train, which is run by the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway. The train faithfully carries spectators to the Cheltenham Racecourse station, much in the same way as it did when the racecourse was completed in 1912.

The Cheltenham Racecourse also has 52 secure bicycle parks in close proximity of The Centaur and the Best Mate entrances.
