Sublimity Profile

This year’s Champion Hurdle will see one of the strongest fields in decades compete for the biggest prize in international hurdles racing. Although Sizing Europe is priced as a clear favourite to take the 2008 Champion Hurdle, he’ll face some tough opposition in the race. We continue our profiles of the 2008 Champion Hurdle favourites with a look at Sublimity, priced 5/1 by William Hill.

Sublimity Record and Statistics
Born in France and trained by John Carr, Sublimity is still fairly new to national hunt racing having run his first hurdles race in December of 2005. Sublimity came into national hunt racing on the back of a fairly successful flat racing career which saw him achieve 4 wins in 14 starts.

Since moving to national hunt racing Sublimity has proved himself a capable hurdler, taking 3 wins from 7 starts. The highlight of his career was, without a doubt, his win at the 2007 Cheltenham Festival that saw him take the Champion Hurdle title.

In the wake of his win at the 2007 Champion Hurdle, Sublimity has raced only once, putting in an unimpressive performance to claim fourth place at the Boylesports.com International Hurdle. Despite this poor performance, bookmakers are keeping his price low, cautious of Sublimity’s ability to spring sudden racing surpises.
